Welcome aboard! Thanks for coming with us on our voyage. Greeting you is our cat Buff, who always enjoyed a good sea cruise (except when the storms make things a little rough.)

Today we live in a world that is buffeted by high winds of many kinds: careerism (as opposed to terrorism), the rapid changes wrought by technology and economic forces, and the ironic situation that, while democracy is cheered and embraced in places where it has never existed, it is dying in those which made it a viable form of government in modern times.

But there are winds blowing with better things.  Jesus told the Jewish teacher Nicodemus: "Do not wonder at my telling you that you all need to be reborn. The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound of it, but you do not know whence it comes, or where it goes; it is the same with every one that owes his birth to the Spirit."  (John 3:7-8)

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to look at all of these breezes from the standpoint of one layman who believes that God has given us the resources to overcome the storms around us and to actually reach that point of "positive infinity" in both time and in our state with God.

GPS notwithstanding, navigation is still a lot easier when aids to navigation are available to keep us away from the shoals and shores and safe into the harbour. To navigate this site, we have seven lighthouses to light the way; you can click on any of them on the right to get where you want to go. We also offer free downloads and a page where you can contact us, and some advice on how to start a website.

We wrap up our introduction with a quotation from the French thinkers Antoine Arnauld and Pierre Nicole, who closed their work La logique, ou l'art de Penser with the following:

Only infinite things, such as eternity and salvation, cannot be equalled by any temporal advantage: and as such one cannot compare them with the things of this world. This is why the least degree of means to be saved is worth more than all of the goods of this world put together; and the least peril of being lost is more considerable than all of the temporal evils considered only as evils.

This is enough for all reasonable persons to make them come to this conclusion, by which we end this Logic: the greatest of all unwise things is to use one's time and life for something else than to work towards and acquire something that never ends, since all of the good things and all of the evils of this life are nothing in comparison to those of the other, and that the danger of falling into these evils is very great, as well as the difficulty of obtaining the good things.

Those that come to this conclusion, and who follow them in the conduct of their life, are prudent and wise, whether they be little correct in all of the reasonings concerning matters of science; and those who do not, whether they be correct in all of the rest...make a bad usage of Logic, of reason, and of life.

So I trust that you can peruse these pages as a friend, for you are always welcome to visit.

About this Site

This site was originally lauched in August 1997 as "The Pentecostal Layman's Page" on Geocities. It was moved in late 2002 due to the increasing difficulty of maintaining a proper web site there. At that time it was renamed "Positive Infinity." The title change is taken from our work My Lord and My God which has been on the site since 1998.
